So Much Has Happened

I know I've been MIA for a while.  There are good reasons!!  I promise.  One is lack of funds.  We've been eating our fair share of rice and beans for the last six weeks.  I'm a big believer in having faith that everything will be alright.  It's pretty funny really.  Without asking for assistance or even telling anyone of our shortage of cash, good friends have given us loads of vegetables from their gardens and eggs from their chickens.  We even had some friends visiting that gave us a gift card to Whole Foods!  (Thanks Tonya & Bryan, and congratulations again on your vow renewal!)  Now things are looking good and we're doing great!  To give you an update on our recent events I'll just share some pictures and video.  We have had some amazing dives, found some cool stuff, fixed some old stuff, and learned some new stuff.  Only one real set back that is pretty much over…  Which I won't share in pictures, but I'll tell you about it at the end...

Here's some recent fun dive videos:

Deep in the channel between Maui and Lanai we ran into a few fish

We got to dive off Molokai with some good friends

Lots of stuff has been going on at home too:

Stick bug I found on my fountain

I found this stick bug living on it the other day!

My tomato plants are growing.

Cantaloupe sprouts

And so are my cantaloupes

Bernina 217 “The Beast” is up and running.

We got the Chandler/Bernina 217 Industrial sewing machine up and running (I like to call it the beast)

All of the stitches for my Bernina 217 cataloged in an old photo album.

I've started a book to catalog all the stitches of the machine using an old photo album.  It's been a great way to learn to use the machine too.  (Thanks for the idea Mom!)

Great White

Our friend gave us this great white shark

My niece Tea drew this awesome picture for me.

Truffle loves coconuts

Truffle the dog is still ridiculous and loves coconuts.

Some stuff that is not pictured include some beautiful aprons made for me by my Second Mom.  I'll write more about that later and share pictures.  There is a really cool story behind the fabric and patterns.  Also, we were honored to be invited to a beautiful vow renewal for our visiting friends Bryan and Tonya.  Not only did they renew their vows but Bryans parents did too.  It was a beautiful ceremony on the beach.  We had a surprise encounter of a monk seal during the ceremony.

For the one bad thing….  This last Tuesday, I was hit with either food poisoning or a brutal stomach bug.  UGH!  Apparently I'm not the only one on the island lately to be hit.  I'm almost feeling back to normal.  I still feel as though I was hit by a car.  Muscle aches and headache.  Probably due to dehydration.  I've been eating toast, applesauce, bananas, and rice.  mmmmmm.  The positive side of the bug is that it makes me really appreciate being healthy!

Thank you everyone for your friendship and warm thoughts.  I promise more recipes are coming soon.
